EMBRYO - the start of something new
Embryo (Studio Salford's eclectic cabaret) is a test-bed and platform for new work and performers of every variety. It has provided an invaluable development stage for thousands of pieces of work in the region over its 10 year history.
Work that has appeared at Embryo has been developed into shows that have gone onto national tours, Manchester Theatre Awards, Re:Play festival, 24:7 Theatre Festival, Kings Cross Awards and more. Embryo is where some of the best known faces in the NorthWest and on TV and radio have started.
Featuring performances of scripts currently in development, stand-up poetry. comedy, short films, bands, dance, performance art - you name it, we've probably hosted it!
Embryo is a real favourite with audiences, especially as they're given a feedback form to complete throughout the night which goes to the artist, so everyone gets involved in the development of the piece.
Everyone has 10 minutes. There is no selection criteria - if you have a piece of work you have started and want to try it out in front of an audience, then Embryo's the right place for you.
